Highlight Floors with new overlay tools in Visrez Maps

by Nicky Morrogh Interactive Maps

Our maps team has added a superb new overlay feature which allows clients to highlight specific areas on a building or complex. The overlay tool is a big step forward because instead of placing a pin it allows you to highlight an area, add text and style the colours for each one. Users can draw specific shapes, add text, borders and callouts. Overlays can link to internal map pages or out to external websites. Overlays will have a big impact on user engagement as you can highlight floors, spaces, zones, buildings and any other important information alongside the map markers and icons.

Overlays are particularly useful on touchscreen devices, where users can interact directly with highlighted areas to explore individual floors, buildings or larger sections of a complex. This is a highly effective tool for designing wayfinding maps to help guests navigate large complexs. The beauty of working with a Visrez map is that your team is able to design or modify this inside your account without any additional cost. Each account contains a library of tutorial videos with step by step instructions for adding overlays to any interactive map.

For towers, building complexes, convention centres and large campuses, individual map markers are not always the most effective way to communicate locations. The overlay tool provides a more intuitive way to highlight larger areas and make complex environments easier to navigate. Simply draw around the area you want to highlight, select a colour and add a text callout. You can use overlays to identify individual floors, building blocks, event zones or entire sections of a property. Whether you’re showcasing a multi-building resort, helping guests navigate a convention centre or showing planners exactly where an event will take place, overlays provide a flexible and visual way to communicate location-based information.

Combining overlays with markers and icons to create visually stunning interactive maps which can be managed by clients was our goal from outset. Our team is delighted with the positive feedback from users with each release and we are encouraged by how quickly users have mastered the tools. Interactive maps are superb for exploring leisure and conference destinations, providing a comprehensive overview of amenities, accommodation, event spaces, food and beverage outlets, and leisure facilities in one place. With Visrez, clients can create fully customised Interactive Property Maps, with complete control over every element, including markers, pages, photos, videos and virtual tours.
